carré wrap skirt with oya embroidery

Inspired by the idea of a scarf draped around the waist, a large carré is folded into two uneven parts and constructed with two waist darts. The smooth cotton fabric's edges are hand embroidered in 8 to 10 hours. Created in collaboration with Kumru Mısırlıoğlu, the signature flower embroidery is based on an old scarf collected from an elderly family member. Oya embroideries have been made by women in Türkiye for years. By creating and wearing these precious embroideries on their scarves, they'd express emotions and thoughts through motifs and colors.
